Ms. Favinger's Classroom Rules and Expectations
Classroom Standards:
Be prepared for class
- Be in your seat and quiet when the bell rings.
- Bring a pen/pencil, paper, textbook, and homework (if assigned), to every class. You will lose 5 points per day if you are not prepared.
Respect others and Property
- Listen to directions.
- Be courteous and positive.
- Share your ideas when appropriate
Be responsible!!!
- Clean up after yourself--food and drink are allowed, as long as the mess is cleaned up.
- Get your work in on time.
- When you are absent, make-up your work.
Know and follow all school rules.
- Read the student handbook
- Listen to special announcements and bulletins.
- ABSOLUTELY NO CELL PHONES DURING CLASS!!!!! Turn them off, leave them on silent, or leave them in your locker. If I see or hear them, you will be written up.
- NO HATS OR OTHER HEAD COVEREINGS IN THE SCHOOL BUILDING!! This includes hoods--keep them down. If you bring one to or wear one in class, you will be written up.
1. Grades will be determined by the successful completion of individual assignments, quizzes, tests, labs, projects, computer work and other teacher observations.
2. Grading will be done in a point system.
- 90% and above = A
- 80%-89% = B
- 70%-79% = C
- 69% and below = F
3. Here is how grades will break down in the science department:
15% Semester Final/BOE
15% Homework and Classwork
20% Labs and Activities
45% Tests/Quizzes
5% Subjective--Attendence, Behavior, Class Preparedness
As you can see, tests and quizzes make up a large portion of your grade, so you
WILL need to study!!!
4. As a student you are encouraged to complete your student planner daily. Assignments and a summary of each day's activities should be recorded. Parents are encouraged to check these books to keep updated on what we are doing in class.
5. When you are absent, make-up work is your responsibility. It is up to you to check with each teacher and gather your missing work. You will receive
two days to make-up work for every one day you are absent.
Remember we continue on with school even if you are not present. Therefore, the sooner you make up work the better.
6. Tardy policy--excessive tardiness affects you as well as the entire class. If you are late to the following class because you are late to my class, it will affect you with the next teacher also. SO DON'T BE TARDY!!!!
1st, 2nd and 3rd tardy--warnings
4th tardy--Discipline Referral
7. Late work--any assignment turned in late will be worth 50% credit. The weeks of midterms, end-of-quarter, and semester finals, will be your last opportunity to turn late assignments in. After those dates, the assignments will no longer be accepted. I will post lists of missing assignments one week prior to these dates.
8. Each student has the ability to pass these courses. You are responsible for your own work, and you EARN your grades, I do not GIVE grades. If you turn in all assignments and study for tests and quizzes, you will have no problem passing!
